Happy Holidays
…from East Croydon station
Since I’m writing this while I wait for my homeward-bound train it won’t be particularly culturally edifying I’m afraid. All I have left to say this year is that I hope you have a wonderful festive break, and please enjoy this decidedly over-it Madonna dei Francescani by Duccio di Buoninsegna, whose work will form part of the National Gallery’s forthcoming exhibition Siena: The Rise of Painting 1300-1350.
I visited the city with colleagues and curators to delve into the exhibition’s background earlier this year and would heartily recommend it. The show runs March 8 to June 27.
Happy hols!
